However, it does mention that energy use will need to change, use less, which is incompatible with capitalism.Mike Shaughnessyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16796480031110991460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440117683736860632.post-19100671765867955202016-06-04T10:00:39.082-07:002016-06-04T10:00:39.082-07:00My immediate response was "well , we might as...My immediate response was "well , we might as well pack up and go home then" ie the authors of this article (Written by Richard Heinberg & David Fridley and first published at Counter Currents.) seem to be suggesting that a change to renewables because fossil fuels are causing climate change and becoming increasingly unprofitable. As social, political and economic changes are not discussed, it seems they are assuming existing market mechanisms plus some changes in gov't regulation will be able to do this with things more or less as they are, with the caveat that "unless we adapt our energy usage patterns with the same vigor as is devoted to changing energy sources, the transition could result in a substantial reduction of economic functionality for society as a whole." Admittedly what seems to be a promotional article for the book, might not go into as much detail as the full text, but it does seem to suggest conservative solutions acceptable to whatever elite happens to be in power in a particular place and time, or at best be politically naive<br />DON'T dis UShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03684308335643900400noreply@blogger.com
